The Morality of Mortality

RIP Billy Mays.
Wow. Who would've thought? Our man from Zorbies, ESPN.com, KABOOM!, and of course, Oxiclean, leaving us at age 50. He was on a plane which blew out a tire during landing, and he bumped his head on the overhead baggage hold. Ouch. He mentioned how no one need worry because he had a hard head. Later that day he complained of not feeling well, and shortly after, passed away. It really brings me down. That guy was awesome. As of late I had made it a point to watch his commercials and spoofs of them on YouTube (such as Heavy Weapons Guy KABOOM!), so to hear of his passing is very ironic and saddening for me. Not just because he was entertaining, seemed to be a very happy person, and was often a subject of conversation, but because he was a person like everyone else. I feel that we, perhaps as Americans don't see those who die really as people, unless their deaths have somehow directly affected our own lives. He was a man who was a son, a father, and a husband. He had parents, a wife, children, maybe a dog, all of whom will mourn him more personally than we ever could. Of course, we all pulled together and freaked out over Steve Irwin, but really, he was someone most of us probably identified with in childhood, and truly how often is such a connection made? I feel genuinely saddened about Mays' death. The death of MJ, Farrah Fawcet, and Ed McMahon are all sad occasions as well, but I believe posterity will remember them well enough. It is more important to remember those who won't get their own headline on MSN.com. That's you, I, and Billy Mays.

I guess it's all up to Vince (Slap Chop, ShamWOW) to fill our void. But Oxiclean was the shit!

ALSO,

What is up with all of these famous people dying this weekend? Something's going wrong, just as I said before. The kids still aren't alright, and the panic is spreading.

The celebrity deaths seem as though they're becoming an epidemic this week. It's so crazy-- Farrah Fawcet and MJ on the same exact day; I was in the middle of talking about Farrah with my parents when MJ's sudden death pops onto the news.

Now after spending the past couple days watching Billy Mays commercial dubs on YouTube (complete coincidence; randomly found one and thought it was hilarious) this happens >.> it's so sad, I hope Vince doesn't die on us too soon.

I could really not care a whole lot less about MJ dying, other than the requisite, "It's sad when people die so young" feelings, and there's the whole slew of emotions cancer deaths give me for Farrah, even though I wasn't really a fan of hers either, but when I heard the news about Billy Mays I fell to me knees and shouted to the air. I'd been watching a lot of Pitchmen lately, so I recently started to know more about him than "He sells things on TV and talks in capslock." Just today I saw two commercials with him and felt way sad about them. RIP Billy Mays, salesman extraordinaire.

It doesn't help matters that I totally hate Vince.

Every morning upon awakening, I experience a supreme pleasure: that of being Salvador Dalí, and I ask myself, wonderstruck, what prodigious thing will he do today, this Salvador Dalí.

omg i know, right? MJ and Farrah Fawcett dying on the same day, Billy Mays dying, that other McMahon-whatshisface dying...what is up with this world? D: i do miss Billy Mays and MJ the most, though. MJ was the most talented pop artist in the world. no Korean pop group (forget American pop, b/c it all sucks ass) could ever come close to him. no matter how many famous people will do the moonwalk, it will never be the same.

just like Vince. he may have awesome products, but Billy Mays' products will always one-up his.

Yeaaa seriously, what's with all the famous people dying left and right? To be honest, it was kinda sad about MJ's death too bc he was such a tragic guy. He flew so high and fell so low (500 million bucks in debt!).
And the shamwow guy is in jail i think? So i wonder who's gonna take the show! D:
